What are the biggest early surprises of the 2024-2025 NBA Season?

The 2024-2025 NBA Season began on October 22nd, 2024. Each NBA team has played at least 14 games since opening night. There are a fair amount of surprising teams thus far. In the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the biggest surprise team. The Cavs are currently undefeated with a 15-0 record. Their offense and defense has dominated and showed consistency game by game, led by stars Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. In terms of disappoinment lies the Milwaukee Bucks and Phildelphia 76ers. Both teams are currently sit at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. The Bucks and Sixers have underperformed and dealt with many injuries. Philadelphia star Joell Embiid has played just 2 total games during the 76ers first 12 games. Khris Middleton has yet to play in a game for the Bucks. Star Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown signs of frustration and disappointment during the Bucks 4-9 slow start. The NBA 2023-2024 has entered its fourth week into the new season. Every team has played at least 10 games to begin their seasons. A ten game sample size can say alot or very little when reflecting on a team’s success or failure. There are several NBA teams who are off to surprisingly good starts. These surprising teams include the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves are the only two previous playoff teams from the previous season. They are currenty playing more dominant and aggressive in their first 10 games. The Timberwolves have the number one league defense. Their star Anthony Edwards continues to take the next step towards super stardom. The Hawks have showed signs of being one of the best offenses led by their stars Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. Which NBA Team fumbled free agency?

NBA free agency began nearly one week ago. Many of the big name free agents are offically off the boards. Several NBA teams spent millions of dollars. Some organizations spending far more than others. The Houston Rockets were a team who exceeded their spendings in comparison to previous seasons. The Rockets are one of the worst and youngest NBA teams dating back to 2021. They were expected to take the next step in their rebuilding process. It was believed that the Rockets would persue and bring back former franchise star James Harden. Harden would instead opt into his final year of his 76ers contract and request a trade to another team. With James Harden off the board, the Houston Rockets would pivot to other nba players. The Rockets would sign guards Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. VanVleet would sign a 3 year contract worth 130 million dollars and Brooks would sign a 4 year contract worth 80 million dollars.
