The NBA 2023-2024 has entered its fourth week into the new season. Every team has played at least 10 games to begin their seasons. A ten game sample size can say alot or very little when reflecting on a team’s success or failure. There are several NBA teams who are off to surprisingly good starts. These surprising teams include the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves are the only two previous playoff teams from the previous season. They are currenty playing more dominant and aggressive in their first 10 games. The Timberwolves have the number one league defense. Their star Anthony Edwards continues to take the next step towards super stardom. The Hawks have showed signs of being one of the best offenses led by their stars Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. The Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder missed the playoffs in the previous season. The Thunder finished last season strong and made the Play In Tournament. They have played like a playoff caleber team in their first 10 games. The Thunder have made strides in the Western Conference, dominating the West with their rising star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Mavericks may possibly have the best duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The Mavericks could have one of the best offenses in the League. They have also shown recent  improvement on the defensive end. The same could be said about the Pacers and Rockets. The Pacers have a rising star in Tyrese Haliburton and have one of the best Centers in Myles Turner. The Rockets are well coached by Ime Udoka and contunue to develop future stars Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun. Is the success of these surprising teams sustainable? Where will these teams rank in the standings by December? A hot start is always be discussed whether the success is for real or a fluke.
