The World Series is finally here. The big dance will see a very different cast of players compared to the previous years. The 2023 World Series will be the first time since the 2016 World Series to exclude the Houston Astros or the LA Dodgers. The Texas Rangers enter their first World Series dating back to 2011. The Rangers have never won a World Series in their franchise history. The Diamondbacks enter their first World Series in 22 years. 2001 was the year of the Diamondbacks only World Series Championship. Both the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks could be looked at as underdogs in this years championship. Both teams have the star power in offense and excellent caliber pitching. The Rangers are currently the betting favorites over the Diamondbacks, which makes sense from a home field advantage standpoint. The Texas Rangers will need All Stars like Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia and Marcus Seminen to step up. The same could be about Diamondback All Stars Corbin Carrol, Katel Marte and Lourdes Gurriel. Starting pitching from both teams could go head to head when comparing pitching stats. Jordan Montgomery vs Zac Gallen will be a intense pitching match up. The Diamondbacks bullpen might have a slight edge on the Rangers bullpen. Both teams enter the World Series with a combined win total of 174 wins, the fewest in MLB World Series history. Who will win the 2023 World Series? Will the Ranger gain their first championship in franchise history? Will the Diamondbacks win their second title in 22 years? The World Series begins Friday night.

Today begins the early stages of trade season in the NBA. Players who signed during the 2024 offseason are now eligable for trades. Several contendering NBA teams are now in the mix for trade upgrades to their playoff caliber rosters. The question becomes why would a team sell players with over 50 games remaining in the 2024-2025 season. The answer is simple: to tank. The NBA 2025 draft lottery is 5 months away but that wont stop many NBA general managers from selling high or low. Rebuilding NBA teams have a chance to impact their draft lottery odds by selling as soon as possible. Selling early often leads to impacting the number of game losses.
